Words fail when trying to describe Niagara. Worse, photographs fail too! Niagara really is one of the great natural wonders of the world. For a long time, I was reluctant to put up any Niagara photos. I didn't see how to even begin to capture the reality of the falls in a couple of pictures. Well, maybe 10 photos can at least start to do the job that a couple of pictures can't.
American Falls
The tour starts with the American Falls and the little Bridal Veil (to the right). One of these is taken from the Canadian side, the other from mid-river on the Maid of the Mist.

The next two photos are side views of the American Falls (from the tower). The people standing there are between the main American Falls and the Bridal Veil.

Cave of the Winds
It used to be possible to visit the Cave of the Winds on the American side. The cave is no longer there (note the rubble at the base of the falls!). However, there's still a Cave of the Winds tour, which goes out on the platforms below the Bridal Veil. If you take it, prepare to get wet!

Horseshoe Falls
Of course, the American Falls are just the opening act for the Horseshoe (Canadian) Falls. I've included three pictures of the Horseshoe Falls. The first two are from the Canadian side and from the river. One of the Maid of the Mist boats is near the falls in the left picture.

The final picture was taken from very near the falls on the Maid of the Mist over the heads of people in front (dressed in blue raingear).
