The Finger Lakes region abounds with waterfalls. I only have space for a handfull of them here.

Taughannock Falls

We start with Taughannock Falls. Taughannock Falls is located eight miles north of Ithaca on NY Route 89. You can see Cayuga Lake from the gorge. The fall has a drop of 215 feet, and is reputedly the highest free waterfall in the northeastern US. The best views are obtained from the top (shown on the left), or by walking an easy 3/4-mile trail to the base from Cayuga Lake (shown on the right). You can also catch glimpses of it from the rim trail.

Watkins Glen and Seneca Lake

I've included four waterfalls from the south end of Seneca Lake. Cavern Cascade is one of the larger falls in Watkins Glen, and is relatively near the park entrance. The trail through the glen runs right behind the fall. She-qua-ga Falls (Tumbling Waters) is located about 3 miles south, in downtown Montour Falls.

Eagle Cliff Falls is in Havana Glen. Take NY 14 south from Montour Falls for about 1/2 mile to Havana Glen Rd. The parking lot is a short distance up the road. It's then a short walk from the parking lot to falls, which you can walk right up to. The last fall pictured here is about 10 miles up the east side of Seneca Lake from Watkins Glen on NY 414. The photo only shows the top segment of the Hector Falls. The stream runs a few feet under the highway before dropping the rest of the way to Seneca Lake.
