[Alpine Wildflowers]

Rocky Mountain National Park, CO July 2002.

There were wildflowers all over along Trail Ridge Road. These were photographed from the trail to Milner Pass, near the Alpine Visitor's Center.

The yellow-fringed flowers that are just starting to bloom are Western Yellow Paintbrush, Castilleja occidentalis. The purple flowers are Moss Campion, Silene acaulis, sometimes called Moss Pink. The white flowers in the upper left are Alpine Sandwort, Lidia obtusiloba.

There's also a paintbrush closeup.
